Thanks for the previous 20+ years, but its time to move on. PV needs new young energy to take over the football team. All the wins and championships the previous years where great, but its time to began a new chapter of PV football. Once again thanks Phil for all your hard work.
As much as Phil robbins does NOT get my vote for the most wonderful Powell Valley figure (coming from a PV graduate), I wonder if people said this in 1991 when PV missed the playoffs.
Powell Valley is a young and inexperienced team this year. Much like Gate City was in 2006.

From the apparent talent on that time, I'd watch out for this team next year. It's a rebuilding season. It just isn't their year. If a rough season is grounds for firing a coach or whatever then Nick Colobro should have been fired at the end of the 1998 season when the devils went 3-7. After their infamous 1998 season they began to dominate.

IMO, PV needs a coach that can adjust a defense...whether it's phil or whoever...they haven't stopped a counter play since 2004..lol

I think some of you were taking this the wrong way. I just saying that its time for Phil to retire. This is not just about what has happen this year but for the last few years. I think that a new younger coach would do good for the program.

I think you are right that he should retire, but i dont think any fan of the vikings would want to see him leave after all he has done although if i was his age i would be ready to call it quits. New younger coach might do good for the program, but then again they may not Coach Robbins is definately a great coach just doesnt have the player talent he once had.

That's what i think. As much as he's done he could stay 20 years and still be deserving of it

You guys think Phil Robbins just suddenly forgot how to coach? This is 1A football first and foremost. Hes an educator at a high school and thats his first job before coaching. Next, as a coach, Phil can only polish turds so much just like any other coach. Some of you all take sports way too seriously and seem to forget everything he has done for the school, the community, and the kids. By no means am I saying hes a classy person but hes been more successful than anybody else around here. Maybe he has had alot of talent but like I said, you can only polish turds so much. Most of the time, you have the horses or you dont. Dont you find it interesting that you can do a pick 'em and even the most ignorant of people can pick 95% of the winners of the games in swva? You guys are kidding yourselves if you think PV has a Clintwood or Burton type team right now. Give the guy his credit, he didnt just start coaching yesterday. He knows how to coach just like Paterno and Galen Hall still know how to coach. Some people just dont like to see it that way.
